The Back of the Art College

This study shows the rear portion of the original Victorian building which was Brighton Art College. This portion was largely given over to a carving studio.

I drew it during my time there somewhere around 1957, and, as far as I know, it’s the only pictorial record of its existence. I drew it in pen & ink and its my personal opinion that the characterful structure should have had a preservation order on it, thus preventing its replacement with the current glass and concrete horror that stands there now.
