Near the Cattle Arch

This is a view from my parents’ shop window. It depicts the local twitten which leads to a tunnel beneath the railway bank known as the Cattle Arch which features in my book Beyond the Cattle Arch.

The picture was executed when I was only 17 and, although it has a number of technical faults, it remains a powerful image of the area at the time.

Despite my later skills (such as they are), I feel it is still one of my best works.
