Esther’s Autumn

This is an early venture again into the use of colour after years of drawing with pen and ink. It’s a view of the main westbound road to Chichester and was executed through the windscreen of my car. The scene I chose afforded a good focal distance while the whole area was alive and bright with autumn colours which my daughter loves so well.

However, I will always associate the work with a miserable old woman who objected to my parking on the grass verge outside her home! It wasn’t her land anyway and I wasn’t causing any trouble.

I might add, that good colourwork is far more exacting than mere drawing.
