An Adur Tributary

It was the spring of 2007 and I was out for a walk with my late wife Susan, along the banks of the River Adur in the area of Bramber – one of my favourite locations and itself a very old and picturesque village. We were combining an outing with the search for a particularly attractive view that would lend itself to a painting. At a certain point, on the east side of the river, we branched left and found ourselves confronted with a tributary flanked by trees on both sides that made for a beautifully balanced design and a strong sense of distance. My rendition of the view resulted in An Adur Tributary, which, I might add, I enjoyed doing immensely as I felt the joy of the scene unfolding beneath my brush.
