The Colourful Profusion

Some years ago, I was driving north up the A23 past Brighton University when I noticed a tangled mass of cultivated plants and wildflowers fighting for elbow room on the central reservation. I stopped the car (illegally), grabbed my camera and spent the next 10 minutes or so bent double taking photographs – much, I might add, to the amusement of other passing motorists.

But the result was this painting entitled The Colourful Profusion’, and, interestingly, I was not the only one that had taken notice of this riot of colour, because an article appeared in The Argus the following week dealing with this very topic accompanied by a photograph.
